One Year Later, Photo of the Day Project Comes To An End

One year after announcing and starting it, my Photo of the Day project has come to an end.

Throughout my life – as I’m sure my parents, siblings, friends, and girlfriend can attest – I’ve had more than a few hobbies that occupied every moment of thought, but that rarely stuck with me for any extended period of time. Here’s a select few, not counting those that were too short-lived to remember:

All this is to say that, more than photography, this past year has been an exercise in commitment and stick-to-it-ive-ness. I’ve always imagined myself to be a more creative person than my mostly-nonexistent output reflected (even trying to draw a straight line elicits anxiety in me), but since recently picked up a camera again after a 4-5 year “hiatus”, I’ve finally found an outlet that doesn’t seem completely impenetrable or boring to me. Setting aside the benefits that come from seeing noticeable improvement of my photos over the past 365 Days, I think photography has “stuck” with me this time.

I have absolutely no desire or intention of doing this professionally. It’s just something fun for me.

Moving forward, I’ll be making a photo book for family and friends of stuff spanning the past year, while still taking lots of photos in an effort to learn and improve. I’ll still be posting photos here, but perhaps in a greater volume more infrequently. I’m also open to the idea of posting other things besides photos, but a vast majority of what I post will remain original content of some sort (posts about what it’s like to work in the music industry, music I’m listening to, photos, etc).

Not to get all LiveJournal-y, but to everyone who has ever read a blog post, commented, “liked” a post, or said anything positive at all, Thank You.
