**[losingweightinthecity](https://losingweightinthecity.tumblr.com/?ref=drewshannon.net):** Best easy tips for better photos? Yours are awesome!

Thanks! I don’t necessarily think I’m totally qualified to be giving photographic advice, but here are a few things I’ve learning along the way:

\- **Above all, try to learn and understand the Exposure Triangle -> how Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO affect one another and the final image. This can probably be learned in under an hour, but is more important than anything else.**
\- Try getting away from the “Auto” or “P” mode on your camera. Once you start experimenting with Aperture Priority, Shutter Speed Priority, or Manual, you’ll find that you have a lot more control over your final image.
\- Learning basic compositional guidelines (Rule of Thirds, Leading Lines, Symmetry, Patterns, etc.) can give you a good foundation upon which to build your skills.
\- Take a lot of photos. Especially in the beginning, just like running, the more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll become and the more confident you’ll become. Digital memory is dirt cheap these days, so experiment and don’t be afraid to screw up.
\- Keep it simple and have fun.

There are definitely exceptions to these rules, and I still fail at following these guidelines from time to time, but every day, I try to improve.
