Excerpt from an interesting new *New York Times* article called “On Twitter, [‘What a Party!’ Brings an Envious ‘Enough, Already!’](http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/19/us/19twitter.html?%5Fr=1&ref=drewshannon.net)”:

> Even as Twitter says half a million people a day [are signing up for the service](http://blog.twitter.com/2011/03/numbers.html?ref=drewshannon.net "statistics on growth from Twitter"), some of its most devoted users are warning that the tantalizing window it provides on the lives of friends, colleagues, rivals and celebrities can have a downside. In a blog entry, [Caterina Fake](http://caterina.net/about?ref=drewshannon.net "About Caterina Fake "), the co-founder of [the photo-sharing site Flickr](http://www.flickr.com/?ref=drewshannon.net "Flickr home page"), called the anxiety produced by the technology “fear of missing out,” or FOMO.

SXSW aside, does anyone else feel a touch of “the grass is always greener” syndrome on their social networks, and if you don’t feel it yourself, do you think social media encourages people to “brag”?
