Modest Operations | Newsletter Volume 7

Modest Operations email newsletter Volume 7 (January 08, 2019).

After a few weeks of admittedly half-assed newsletters due to holiday travel and a wicked case of norovirus, I'm back!

I've really enjoyed reading a lot of folks' 2018 recaps over the last few weeks, but haven't had it in me to do my own. If I'm being honest, other than a few standouts, 2018 was a weird / lost year that I'm to leave in the past.

This Week's Links A list of things I've been reading & thinking about.* "Even before we started making jeans ten years ago, we always tried to design with two values in mind: creating clothes that people would want to wear for a long time, and producing them to a standard that would allow them to physically hold up for years and years." - Reflections on 15 Years. (Johan & Andrew for 3Sixteen) * "The line between bold and reckless is thinner than people think, and you cannot believe in risk without believing in luck, because they are two sides of the same coin. They are both the simple idea that sometimes things happen that influence outcomes more than effort alone can achieve." - The Psychology of Money (Morgan Housel for The Collaborative Fund) * "Maintenance takes time and energy that can sometimes impede other forms of progress such as learning about new things." - These things I know for sure (Andrea Zittel for WTF.tw)
